At one time, Lowell was the site of several textile mills that operated along the canal system in the town. Today, visitors can explore the role that Lowell played in the industrial hostory of the United States. Swimming and boating in the Merrimack River are also popular activities at this park.

Lowell-Dracut-Tyngsboro State Forest

This state forest is located in three different towns in Massachusetts, and is comprised of 1,000 acres, including 180 acres of ponds, swamps and wetlands. Six miles of trails run through the park, allowing visitors to explore the forest first hand. Hunting is permitted in season at this park as well.
